John O’Flaherty - Lynch b. 1979 in Derry City and now lives in Belfast. John achieved a BA (Hons) before progressing to the PGCE in Education, both from Ulster University.

John O’Flaherty‑Lynch’s abstract landscapes arise from a sustained exploration of how place, memory, and emotion intertwine. Rather than depicting a single, recognisable scene, he distils the essence of mountains, seas, and forests into gestural marks, layered colour fields, and shifting spatial tensions.

O’Flaherty‑Lynch’s work currently exhibits in galleries across Ireland, where audiences are drawn to the way his paintings transform diverse natural subjects like Donegal landscapes, The Mourne Mountains or Ormeau Park  into internal, felt experiences. By capturing the atmospheric essence of landscapes rather than their literal form, he reveals why his work resonates so strongly: it offers not a place to identify, but a place to inhabit.
